Q. What preparations do I need to do for my appointment?

A. Your doctor has arranged for you to have a specific diagnostic scan or test, and some of these procedures require preparations before your appointment. So, it is important you carefully read the patient information leaflet you will have been sent with your appointment letter. Alternatively, go to the below link and then select the procedure you are having and you will then be able to read the relevant patient information leaflet.

If you still have questions you need answered then contact our patient referral centre on 0844 581 0301.

Q. How will I receive details of my appointment?

A. Our Patient Referral Centre (PRC) will contact you soon after receiving a referral from your doctor. We will arrange an appointment time that’s convenient for you, and then send you a letter confirming the appointment. This letter will include a leaflet explaining everything you need to know about your scan/test. You can also read this information and download the leaflet on the About your Scan page.

Q. How do I know where to go for my appointment?

A. We’ll give you details of your appointment location when we arrange the time. Once you know where your appointment is taking place, you can find out more information about the location and get detailed directions from your home, by visiting the Your Scanning Location page.

Q. What do I do if I need to change or cancel my appointment?

A. If you realise that you will be late or unable to attend the unit please contact the Patient Referral Centre as soon as possible on: 0844 581 0301.

Q. Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?

A. Please do not bring children along to your appointment. Although you can bring a friend or relative to your appointment for support they may have to wait outside the unit as some of the locations are limited to space, or it may be innapropriate for them to be in the room with the diagnostic equipment such as an MRI scanner or X-Ray machine.

Q. Is this information available in my language?

A. Our Patient Information leaflet is available in many different languages, which can all be downloaded from the About your Scan page.
