DBS (Directly Bookable Services)
Choose and Book
Directly Bookable Choose & Book (DBS) is due to be piloted by City & Hackney and Waltham Forest to enable the benefits of the scheme for booking patient appointments for the London NHS Diagnostic Service. After the pilot we will be rolling out this service to all other GPs in London.
The primary benefits of DBS are:
- Benefits to the patient include the ability to choose the date and time of their appointment based on actual availability and proximity to their home.
- Choose and Book provides greater convenience and certainty as the choice is the patients and less chance that information will be lost in the post as interactions are system based.
- For the PCT Choose and Book supports the development of better referral pathways, improves the quality of referrals and reduces the level of Did Not Attends (DNA), plus it reduces the likelihood of overbooking and effort in handling clinical correspondence.
